Three day introduction to Intuitive Herbalism
This course has been developed as a way for people to access some of the material we work with in our trainings, but in an introductory three day immersion. It can be taken as a stand-alone course or as a lead-in to the full training.
Over three days we will develop skills such as:
– Slowing down to plant speed
– Working with three distinct modes of perception – somatic, heart centered and seership and exploring the significance and possibilities within each of these.
– Techniques and theory (or practice for those experienced) in liminal journeying and conscious dream work,
– The relationship between intuition and innate wisdom – including ancestral wisdom. How the wisdom of those who have come before us speak through us in the form of intuition.
– Clarifying the difference between intuition, instinct, emotion and thought and recognising our patterns and habits within this.
– Why understanding projection is so important – as it is the opposite of intuition. It is only through moving through the layers of our own projection that we deepen our intuition.
– Understanding the significance of trauma, how the plants can show us possibilities within this, and the journey of reclaiming more of our life force as we meet and welcome ourselves.
– Understanding how plants and work with your own process / internal shadow-work weave together
– Understanding health as deeply linked to our broader cultural ecosystems
– Introduction to the art of finding the edge of meeting within yourself – inner doorways – and your ‘growing point’ with each plant
– Working with simple touch with deep listening and a functional framework of consent (we work with wheel of consent here)
– Understanding how to, and the value in, commiting to a plant for a moon cycle
– Becoming familiar with common ways people get lost / tripped up / disassociate / plateau in this work
– Developing our own council of plant allies
In the course we combine outside work, journeying, tasting, pair/group work and practical medicine making skills.
The time is fairly equally balanced between direct work with herbs and inner work to develop our ability to work with herbs.
This class can be a stand alone introduction to help stimulate your own exploration of herbs, or it can be the first of an ongoing exploration you may like to do with other courses we offer. We will tend to prioritise places to those who are considering the entire Insight Herbalism training, but at this stage no ongoing commitment is needed 🙂

This page gives a slightly different take on some of the skills that we need people to have familiarity with before starting the Foundation. These are less pressing for the Intro / July immersion, but good to reflect on to see how ready you feel to dive in before joining the school.
